School lunches are available free of charge for children aged 4 -7 years, under the Universal Free School Meals scheme which was introduced in September 2014.  If your child has any allergies or special dietary requirements, please speak to a member of the school office.

You must let the school know if your child is having a meal or if they will be bringing in their own packed lunch.  If you wish to alter your child’s lunch arrangements, i.e. change from packed lunch to a school meal, 1 weeks’ notice is required from the Monday morning.

Packed lunches may be brought in and should be in a proper container marked with your child’s name.  Drinks must be in an unbreakable container – no glass bottles, thermos flasks or pressurised tins are allowed.  Tolworth School is a health promoting school and packed lunches should not contain fizzy drinks, chocolate or sweets. We are also a nut free  school and therefore, you must not include nuts or food containing nuts in your child’s packed lunch.

Although all children in Reception - Year 2 will receive a free school meal under the Universal Free School Meals scheme, the school will receive additional funding for every child who is REGISTERED for a Free School Meal. This is additional investment in your child’s education. Therefore if you meet the criteria listed below please apply.

Children of families who are in receipt of:

• Income Support
• income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
• income-related Employment and Support Allowance
• support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
• the guaranteed element of Pension Credit
• Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
• Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
• Universal Credit - if you apply on or after 1 April 2018 your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get)
